At 1629 Columbia County NY 911 dispatched the New York State Police to the area of Route 203 and CR-21 for a vehicle traveling with a trailer of hay that was on fire.
The farmer was able to get off the road at a farm located at 2559 ROUTE 203 KINDERHOOK ( MCCAGG RD/MERWIN RD ) where the trailer of round bales of hay became fully engulfed.
Chatham fire responded and requested mutual aid from Valatie Fire Department and Tri-Village Fire Company, Inc. Columbia County, NY with tankers and manpower.
It took hard work with manual labor and assistance from the farmer over two and a half hours to extinguish the fire. No injuries were reported and the fire was kept from any structures.
