On June 26, 2022 Chatham fire was dispatched to a brush fire in the woods behind the Chatham Central School District football fields. The fire was extinguished by firefighters utilizing an off-road UTV.
Although it may appear green and lush, our area is quite dry with the lack of rain. The community is reminded to use caution. With outdoor fires until we receive additional rain.
This particular fire is deemed suspicious in nature is under investigation. Anyone with information on the fire near old pond behind the school today is asked to call the New York State Police.
