On April 9, 2025, Ocean Fire Company #1 and Sanford W Smith Hook and Ladder 2025 hosted their Annual Fire Department Banquet
Tonight, members of the fire companies, representatives from the Village of Chatham Board, community members and our neighboring departments all came together to celebrate and honor the selfless individuals who make up the Chatham Fire Department. There were heartfelt recognition speeches, farewell speeches and prestigious awards. It was a truly uplifting banquet appreciated by all.
Receiving well-deserved honors tonight were:
50 year member recognition awards to the indefatigable Donald O’Connel and Paul Koch.
25 year recognition to the devoted Lady Auxiliary member Janet Sawyer
Hook and Ladder firefighter of the year this year is Deb Ulmer
Ocean Fire Company Axe Award was presented to the outstanding Michael Blasl.
The CFD Captains award was bestowed on the exemplary Fire Commissioner Melony Spock.
Outgoing presidents Patrick Wemitt and Peg Tuthill were recognized.
